Chris Cornish joins Atrio Property as Director of Growth and Acquisitions, bringing more than two decades of experience across the property lifecycle from investment analysis, origination, and acquisition through to planning, delivery oversight and asset operations. He has led the origination and acquisition of development opportunities with a combined end value exceeding $2 billion.
Chris' extensive experience spans the property sector, however his passion is rooted in housing, mixed-use and large-scale developments where he can deliver his expertise in structuring and executing complex transactions. He has built a career on assembling the parties that make projects happen, from landowners, developers and government to institutional and private capital, with each opportunity grounded in detailed feasibility analysis that drives both project growth and strong investment returns.
Having worked closely with key stakeholders including Economic Development Queensland(EDQ) on major housing, urban renewal, mixed-use and infrastructure projects, Chris has held Queensland and national lead roles including as National Acquisitions Manager for Urbex, part of the BMD Group, where he built a pipeline of more than 4,000 residential dwellings in just under four years, including leading the amalgamation of fragmented landholdings across multiple landowners within Southern Thornlands, consolidating a ~200 hectare holding that now forms part of the State Government declared Priority Development Area (PDA).
His earlier career was built in advisory. At JLL he led development and transaction advisory to the State Government on the two largest urban renewal precincts of the $5.4 billion Cross River Rail project, Roma Street and Woolloongabba, and at PwC he counselled government, institutional, not-for-profit and private clients on property holdings and development opportunities exceeding $4 billion.
Chris holds a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Property Economics) from Queensland University of Technology, and has been a Certified Practising Valuer with the Australian Property Institute since 2005.
